On June 6, the public commemorated Vaikasi Amavasai by performing traditional rituals for their ancestors at the Perur Noyyal riverbank in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: In observance of Vaikasi Amavasai, a significant day in Tamil culture, devotees gathered at the Perur Noyyal riverbank early this morning to pay homage to their ancestors through various rituals.

The rituals commenced with the offering of sesame seeds, rice, and fruits as holy offerings alongside the river. Under the guidance of priests, special prayers and rituals were conducted, bringing together families in shared devotion.

Following the spiritual offerings, community service acts were carried out, including Annadanam (the practice of offering food to the needy) and providing food to cows, emphasizing the day's charitable spirit.

The day concluded with special prayers at the nearby Pateeswarar Temple, where devotees lit ghee lamps and continued their worship, marking a devout and auspicious start to the day.
