The protest was a response to Annamalai's recent controversial statements about the TNCC President, which have sparked outrage among Congress party members across the state.

Congress Corporation Councilors Sankar and Saravanakumar were present at the forefront of the protest. Over a hundred party members and supporters participated in the demonstration, raising slogans against Annamalai and the BJP.
