The historic Mahaliyamman Mariamman Temple in Karacheeri near Pollachi celebrated its Kumbabhishekam festival, attracting thousands of villagers. The event, which began on the 8th, culminated in a grand ceremony today.

Coimbatore: The ancient Vinayagar, Balamurugan, Mariamman, and Mahaliyamman Temple in Karacheeri near Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, witnessed a grand Kumbabhishekam festival that drew thousands of devotees from the surrounding areas.

The festivities commenced on the 8th with a special Vinayagar puja, followed by three days of various yagnas and homams. Today marked the culmination of the event with the performance of the Kumbabhishekam ritual.

After the completion of special pujas, Sivachariyars (priests) carried sacred water-filled kalasams (pots) on their heads to the top of the temple gopuram (tower). Amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras, the holy water was poured over the gopura kalasam, signifying the consecration of the temple. Following this, the sanctified water was sprinkled on the gathered devotees.

The event saw the participation of Pollachi Jayaraman, the MLA of Pollachi constituency, along with a large number of people from Kinathukadavu and nearby regions. The Kumbabhishekam festival not only reaffirmed the spiritual significance of the ancient temple but also served as a unifying event for the local community, bringing together thousands of villagers in a celebration of faith and tradition.
