Tamil Culture Rooted in Devotion: Sadhguru's Tamil Nadu Day Message

Sadhguru emphasizes the deep-rooted devotion in Tamil culture in his Tamil Nadu Day video message, urging Tamils to spread this cultural essence worldwide on July 18, 2024.

Coimbatore: In a video message released on the occasion of Tamil Nadu Day (18-07-2024), Sadhguru highlighted the devotional essence of Tamil culture, emphasizing the need to spread this cultural richness across the world.

The Tamil Nadu government had previously announced that July 18 would be celebrated as Tamil Nadu Day annually. As celebrations unfold across the state, Sadhguru shared his thoughts on Tamil culture through a video posted on his social media pages.

In his message, Sadhguru stated, "Whether it's the Tamil soil, culture, music, dance, art, or language - everything Tamil is infused with devotion. Tamil culture cannot exist without devotion. In Tamil Nadu, a land of devotees, every aspect of life from birth to death is steeped in devotion."

He continued, "This culture, soaked in devotion, has achieved countless feats through the strength of devotion in people's hearts. It has flourished as an incredibly rich culture for thousands of years. The wealth of our society and culture is beyond what other nations can even imagine."

Sadhguru reminded viewers of Tamil Nadu's historical significance, noting how Europeans were eager to reach India, even accidentally discovering America in their attempts to find a sea route. "We were the wealthiest nation in the world," he affirmed.

He attributed this successful way of life to devotion, mentioning the contributions of Chera, Chola, Pandya, and Pallava kings. However, he emphasized that above all, it was the land of 63 Nayanmars, Alwars, and devotees like Avvaiyar that shaped the culture.

Sadhguru concluded by urging Tamil people to recognize this devotional aspect of their culture and spread it intensively worldwide. "It's not enough to merely talk about Tamil culture. If we take pride in it, we must keep it alive," he said, stressing the importance of active cultural preservation and propagation.
