Lawyer brutally murdered near Coimbatore, police launch investigation

A 48-year-old lawyer, Udayakumar, was brutally hacked to death near Myleripalayam on the Pollachi road. Police have formed six special teams to investigate the murder and apprehend the culprits.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a 48-year-old lawyer was brutally murdered near Coimbatore on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, identified as Udayakumar from Viswanathapuram near Saravanampatti, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants on the Pollachi road.

Udayakumar, who worked as a lawyer, left his home around noon, informing his wife Nithyavalli, a doctor at a private hospital, that he was traveling to Pollachi for a case. He departed in his car, reportedly accompanied by a few others.

While en route to Pollachi, near the Myleripalayam junction, the car deviated from the main highway onto a side road. A short distance later, Udayakumar was forced out of the vehicle and viciously attacked with sharp weapons, including sickles. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot, lying in a pool of blood.

The assailants fled the scene in Udayakumar's car. Passersby who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the local police station.

Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan and Sulur police officers rushed to the crime scene and launched a thorough investigation. Udayakumar's body was recovered and sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

To expedite the investigation and arrest the perpetrators, six special teams have been formed. The police are currently probing the motive behind the murder and working to identify the culprits involved in this heinous crime.

The brutal killing of a lawyer in broad daylight has sent shockwaves through the legal community and residents of Coimbatore. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
