Special Worship at Nanda Gopalaswamy Temple Near Pollachi on Krishna Jayanthi: Devotees Dress as Krishna

On Krishna Jayanthi, devotees dressed as Krishna and performed special worship at the Nanda Gopalaswamy Temple atop a hill near Pollachi. The event drew hundreds of devotees who climbed the steep path to participate.



Coimbatore: The Nanda Gopalaswamy Temple, perched atop a hill at an elevation of about 1500 feet in the Western Ghats near Angulakurichi, Pollachi, witnessed a unique celebration of Krishna Jayanthi today. Devotees, particularly children, dressed up as Radha and Krishna, adding a special charm to the festivities.



The temple, known for its challenging access via rugged mountain paths, saw an influx of devotees eager to participate in the Krishna Jayanthi celebrations.



Children, adorned in colorful attire representing Radha and Krishna, performed special rituals, including the traditional 'Uri Adithal' (pot-breaking) ceremony, much to the delight of onlookers.



Hundreds of devotees patiently waited in long queues to offer their prayers to Nanda Gopalaswamy and Bama Rukmani Thayar. The atmosphere was filled with devotional fervor as worshippers made their way up the steep path to reach the hilltop shrine.



Considering the large gathering and the challenging terrain, the Forest Department and local police were deployed to ensure the safety and security of the devotees. Their presence helped in maintaining order and providing assistance to those making the arduous climb to the temple.

The Nanda Gopalaswamy Temple, with its unique hilltop location, has long been a significant pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Krishna in the region. The Krishna Jayanthi celebration at this temple is particularly special, drawing worshippers who are willing to undertake the difficult journey to participate in the festivities and seek blessings.
