Coimbatore: A new Anganwadi center, constructed at a cost of Rs 14 lakh, was inaugurated by Mettupalayam MLA A.K. Selvaraj in Iluppanattam panchayat near Mettupalayam on Tuesday. The facility, built under the Union General Fund, marks a significant step towards improving child welfare services in the region.

The Anganwadi center, which falls under the Karamadai Panchayat Union in Coimbatore district, was completed after extensive construction work. The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of local officials and community members, highlighting the importance of the new facility for the area's residents.

As part of the inauguration, Anganwadi workers initiated their duties by boiling milk in a new vessel, symbolizing an auspicious beginning. Parents who brought their children to the center were invited to light traditional lamps, further marking the commencement of services at the new facility.
