Massive Ganja Crackdown in Coimbatore District: SP Karthikeyan's Swift Action

Coimbatore SP Karthikeyan orders district-wide cannabis raids over two days. 86 special teams monitor 2,000 offenders, seizing 10 kg Ganja and 1,000 kg tobacco products.

Coimbatore: In a sweeping operation against drug offenders, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan initiated a district-wide Ganja raid that lasted for two days. The operation targeted known offenders and resulted in significant seizures of illegal substances.

Acting on SP Karthikeyan's orders, 86 special teams were formed to monitor approximately 2,000 offenders involved in Ganja-related cases over the past 15 years. These teams conducted intensive searches across all police station jurisdictions in the district.

The operation led to the registration of cases against 10 Ganja offenders and the seizure of about 10 kilograms of Ganja. Additionally, the district-wide search uncovered nearly 1,000 kilograms of tobacco products that were illegally stored for sale.

In a related development, on September 22, a bar in the Thondamuthur area was found selling liquor illegally. A case was registered against the establishment, and it was subsequently sealed by the Perur Tahsildar.

This crackdown demonstrates the district police's commitment to curbing drug-related offenses and illegal substance trade in Coimbatore. The operation's success highlights the effectiveness of targeted surveillance and swift action in combating drug-related crimes.
