Navarathri Kolu Festival Begins at Udumalai Tirupati Temple: Devotees Participate in Large Numbers

The 9-day Navarathri Kolu festival commenced at Udumalai Venkatesa Perumal Temple. Goddess Shailaputri Devi was on display. Devotees participated in large numbers for the inaugural day.



Coimbatore: The famous Udumalai Venkatesa Perumal Temple in Udumalaipettai, Tiruppur district, is set to celebrate the Navarathri Kolu festival from today until the 12th.

On the first day, the Goddess was adorned as Shailaputri Devi, dressed in yellow silk, blessing the devotees with her special appearance. Additionally, special abhishekam and puja were performed for Lord Venkatesa Perumal and the Utsavar.



A Kolu doll exhibition has been set up in the temple premises. The exhibition features statues of Sri Venkatesa Perumal, scenes depicting marriage ceremonies, female deities, a sleeping Kumbhakarna, and various other divine figurines including those of young maidens. Numerous visitors were seen enthusiastically capturing these displays on their mobile phones and sharing them with others.

In celebration of the Navarathri Kolu festival, a Bharatanatyam performance by students took place. The students showcased their talent by dancing to devotional songs and enacting stories from the Puranas.

The Navarathri Kolu festival at the Udumalai Tirupati Venkatesa Perumal Temple, which began today, saw a large turnout of devotees who came to seek darshan. The Udumalai Tirupati Temple administration had made all the necessary arrangements for the festival.
