Airfare Skyrockets Due to Ayudha Pooja and Extended Holidays

Domestic airfares from Chennai have surged dramatically on October 10 due to Ayudha Pooja and consecutive holidays. Flights to Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, and Thoothukudi see significant price hikes.

Coimbatore: Domestic airfares from Chennai have witnessed a sudden and steep increase on October 10, primarily due to the upcoming Ayudha Pooja festival and the subsequent extended holidays.

With Ayudha Pooja being celebrated tomorrow and followed by three consecutive holidays, many people have started traveling to their hometowns. As buses and trains are already overcrowded, passengers are resorting to private omni buses, paying higher fares for their journeys.

In this scenario, the ticket prices for domestic flights from Chennai to districts including Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Thoothukudi have also escalated significantly. The Chennai-Coimbatore airfare, which was previously around Rs. 3,300, has now soared to as high as Rs. 11,000.

Notably, the fare from Chennai to Thoothukudi, which was earlier priced at around Rs. 5,000, has now increased to Rs. 11,700. This substantial rise in airfares reflects the high demand for air travel during the festive season and extended holiday period.

The sudden spike in airfares has caught many travelers off guard, forcing them to reconsider their travel plans or bear the burden of inflated ticket prices. Airlines seem to be capitalizing on the increased demand, adjusting their pricing strategies accordingly.
