Coimbatore Mayor and Corporation Commissioner conducted an inspection of rainwater drainage work at Avinashi Flyover and Lanka Corner on October 14, instructing officials to expedite the process.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar and Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran conducted an on-site inspection of the rainwater drainage work at Avinashi Flyover and Lanka Corner areas on Monday (October 14).

The civic body leaders visited the sites to assess the progress of the drainage work and issued instructions to the officials to accelerate the rainwater removal operations. The inspection comes as part of the city's preparations for the upcoming monsoon season and to prevent waterlogging in low-lying areas.

During the visit, the Mayor and Commissioner were accompanied by various Corporation officials. They closely examined the drainage systems and discussed strategies to improve water flow and prevent flooding in these critical areas of the city.

The Avinashi Flyover and Lanka Corner are known to be prone to waterlogging during heavy rains, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents. This inspection and the subsequent directives for speedy completion of drainage work demonstrate the Corporation's proactive approach to tackle potential monsoon-related issues.

The officials emphasized the importance of completing the drainage work promptly to ensure the safety and convenience of citizens during the rainy season. They also reviewed the existing infrastructure and discussed potential improvements to enhance the overall drainage capacity in these areas.
