Youth Robbed of Mobile Phone and Rs 2,000 Near Chinniyampalayam; Police Hunt Three Suspects

A 21-year-old youth was waylaid and robbed of his expensive mobile phone and Rs 2,000 by a three-member gang near RG Puram, Chinniyampalayam on Saturday night. Peelamadu police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the suspects.


Coimbatore: A 21-year-old youth was robbed of his expensive mobile phone and Rs 2,000 cash by a three-member gang near Chinniyampalayam on Saturday night, police said.




The victim, Kaviyarasu, a resident of Mariamman Koil Street in Chinniyampalayam, was riding his bike near RG Puram, Chinniyampalayam on Saturday night when the incident occurred.




According to police sources, a gang of three persons was hiding under a banyan tree in the area. As Kaviyarasu rode past, the gang suddenly blocked his way and threatened him. They snatched his expensive mobile phone and Rs 2,000 cash from his pocket before fleeing the scene.




Kaviyarasu lodged a complaint with the Peelamadu police on Sunday. Based on his complaint, police have registered a case and launched a search operation to nab the suspects who robbed the mobile phone and cash.




Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and conducting inquiries to identify and apprehend the three-member gang involved in the robbery.
