Coimbatore: Students residing at the girls’ hostel of Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology on Pollachi Road near Othakkal Mandapam in Coimbatore staged a protest on the college campus on Tuesday, alleging that poor-quality food contaminated with insects and worms had been served in the hostel mess.
According to the protesting students, the quality of food served in the hostel has been unsatisfactory for the past 10 days. They claimed that insects and worms had been found in the food on multiple occasions, raising serious concerns over food safety and hygiene.

The students further alleged that they had repeatedly brought the issue to the attention of the college management, but no effective action had been taken. They said the poor quality of the food had forced many hostel residents to skip meals.

Demanding immediate intervention, the students urged the college administration to ensure that hygienic, nutritious, and quality food is served in the hostel. They also called for regular monitoring of food preparation and quality to safeguard the health and well-being of students.
