Coimbatore: The 16th Annual National Conference of the Academy of Regional Anaesthesia of India (AORA) and the Ganga Anaesthesia Refresher Course (GARC) 2026 is being held at the Le Méridien Convention Centre from July 16 to 19, bringing together leading national and international experts in anaesthesiology.

The four-day conference is focusing on the latest advancements in regional anaesthesia, chronic pain management, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), patient safety and perioperative care. The scientific programme features 69 masterclasses, 17 hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, keynote lectures, research presentations and interactive learning sessions.

The conference covers topics ranging from foundational regional anaesthesia techniques to advanced ultrasound- and peripheral nerve stimulator-guided nerve blocks, offering participants practical skill-building opportunities while highlighting the latest evidence-based practices.

Speaking about the event, Conference Chair Dr. J. Balavenkatasubramanian said Coimbatore has emerged as a preferred destination for major medical conferences. He noted that the previous AORA conference hosted in the city in 2019 attracted more than 1,700 delegates and expressed confidence that this year's edition would be another landmark event, featuring over 90 international faculty members and more than 300 Indian experts.

He said the conference also provides a platform for young researchers and practitioners to present their work through research papers, audits, case reports and e-poster presentations. The event features several prestigious academic awards and competitions, including the Best Paper Awards, Dr. J.G. Shanmuganathan Best Publication Award, USG War, Quiz Contest, Infographics Contest, and Photography and Painting Competitions, recognising excellence in research, innovation and academic contributions.

"AORA–GARC 2026 offers a unique blend of knowledge, skill-building and interactive learning. With world-renowned faculty, live demonstrations, hands-on workshops and scientific sessions, the conference has been designed to enhance clinical expertise while fostering collaboration and innovation in regional anaesthesia and perioperative care," he said.
