KMCH Inaugurates Memorial Wall Honoring Organ Donors in Coimbatore

KMCH Hospital in Coimbatore held the 'Life After Life 2026' ceremony on August 2, inaugurating a memorial wall honoring organ donors. Health Minister Dr K G Arunraj was the chief guest, unveiling the wall commemorating donors' families. Over 300 people attended the event celebrating the gift of life.


Coimbatore: KMCH Hospital in Coimbatore continues to be a leading center for organ transplant surgeries in Western Tamil Nadu. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a skilled medical team capable of performing liver, kidney, heart, lung, and bone marrow transplant surgeries. Recognizing the importance of organ donation, the hospital organized a special "Life After Life 2026" tribute ceremony on August 2, 2026, at its hospital campus auditorium.

The event was conducted as part of the "Organ Donation Appreciation Week" observed globally during the second week of August every year. The ceremony was designed to honor donor families who, despite their grief and difficult circumstances, made the selfless decision to donate their loved ones' organs.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Public Welfare, Medical Education and Family Welfare Dr K G Arunraj attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the memorial wall commemorating the donors. He praised KMCH Hospital for continuing to be the premier center for organ transplant surgery in Western Tamil Nadu.

KMCH Chairman and Managing Director Dr Nalla G Palanisamy stated in his presidential address, "KMCH takes pride in paying tribute to the donors who have given new life to hundreds of patients and to the sacrifice of their families."

KMCH Executive Director Dr Arun Palanisamy lauded the gesture, saying, "The helping hand extended to wipe away the suffering of fellow human beings, even during grief-stricken and testing times, is the pinnacle of human dignity."

Earlier, KMCH Medical Director Dr A N Murugan delivered the welcome address. Neurologist Dr P Bhaskar spoke on the topic "Life After Life at KMCH." Intensivist Dr S Yuvaraj shared details of organ donations for the year 2025-2026.

The event, attended by over 300 people including doctors, special guests, and organ donor families, commenced with a tree planting ceremony. Anesthesiologist Dr T Arun Kumar delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the ceremony.
