The Anti-Ragging Awareness Week organized by Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Nava India, Coimbatore concluded on August 18. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore North, P. Thangadurai, IPS released the awareness banner and commended the college's 40-year ragging-free record during the valedictory function.
Coimbatore: The Anti-Ragging Awareness Week organized by the Anti-Ragging Committee and NSS of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Nava India, Coimbatore was successfully conducted from August 12 to 18 at the college campus. The week-long event was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students against ragging practices.
The valedictory function was presided over by the college Principal and Secretary Dr. P.L. Sivakumar. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore North, P. Thangadurai, IPS participated as the chief guest and released the anti-ragging awareness banner during the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, P. Thangadurai, IPS said, "It is commendable that Sri Ramakrishna College has not witnessed any ragging-related offences in the past 40 years. As important as being against ragging is our stand against drug abuse. Everyone should raise their voice against drug addiction." He emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy campus environment.
Speaking further, he advised students, "During your college education, you get numerous opportunities to shape your future life in the best possible way. Students should make use of these opportunities. We must completely stay away from social media crimes and drug abuse." His words resonated with the student community present at the event.
Following this, the college's Controller of Examinations and Anti-Ragging Committee Coordinator Dr. G. Senthil Kumar read out the anti-ragging pledge. The pledge reaffirmed the commitment of the institution and students to maintain a ragging-free campus.
The chief guest presented prizes to students who won various competitions conducted throughout the week including short film making, face painting, anti-ragging slogan writing, painting competition, and poster making. These creative activities helped students express their stance against ragging in innovative ways.
NSS Coordinator Dr. S. Pragadeeshwaran, Anti-Ragging Committee Coordinators, and a large number of students participated in the event, making it a resounding success.
