31-year old farmer trampled to death by elephant

A 31-year old farmer was trampled to death by an elephant near Sirumugai, some 45 kms from here, when he was returning home last night.

Kanakaraj, who was returning home around 9 pm to his village Kittepalayam on his motorcycle, noticed a single elephant coming from opposite direction, police said today.

Fearing for life, he dropped his two wheeler and attempted to run for safety. However, the elephant chased him and trampled to death, they said.

Body was sent to the govenrment hospital here for postmortem.
