Alliance to sweep election: EVKS

TNCC president EVKS Elangovan on Tuesday said the DMK-Congress alliance will sweep the assembly poll by winning over 210 seats in the state. "We will win even in constituencies where we don't have a large presence," he exuded confidence. Elangovan was in the city to oversee arrangements at the VOC Ground for the campaign meet to be addressed by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and DMK treasurer M K Stalin on Saturday.

Elangovan said Rahul would visit the city on May 7 and also campaign for the party in Madurai and Maduravoyal near Chennai as well.

Elangovan, who have campaigned in several constituencies, said, "I firmly believe that the DMK-Congress alliance will sweep the elections." Taking a dig at AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa, he countered her statement that she was living a life with penance, saying if she really wanted to do that she should do it at some mountain and not at Kodanad and Chennai.

Referring to the AgustaWestland copter scam, Elangovan said it was a political conspiracy and brought up by rival parties to tarnish the image of Congress.
