Woman robbed

A motorcycle rider and pillion rider on Thursday robbed Ramanathapuram resident Karthika of her gold chain weighing seven sovereigns. The Ramanathapuram Police said that the incident happened in the evening when the woman was returning home after buying milk from a neighbourhood shop. Before she could realise what was happening and cry for help, the two fled the scene.

Drowns

Sadakathullah (40), a resident of Kottaimedu, drowned in a check dam near Aliyar Dam on Thursday. The police said that while on a holiday to the spot, he moved to a deeper spot and was washed away by the flowing water. Efforts to rescue him failed.
