Over 700 cops cast postal votes at four polling stations

More than 700 police personnel of Coimbatore rural police cast their postal votes at four polling stations here on Monday. Police personnel who are working in the Periyanaickenpalayam and Pollachi sub-divisions are going to cast their postal votes at NGM college at Pollachi and Ramakrishna Mission Vidayala at Periyanaickenpalayam on Tuesday.

Likewise, more than 200 police personnel attached to the Coimbatore city police cast their postal votes at CSI Girls Higher secondary school campus here on Tuesday.

Police personnel are going to be deployed in various polling stations in Coimbatore district to ensure free and fair election. The rural police caste 1032 postal votes, Home Guards caste 259 and five retired policemen also cast their votes.

The election commission of India conducted voting for police personnel working in the special wing of the Special Branch, district crime records bureau, district crime branch and economic offences wing, Karumthampatti sub-divisions, Perur sub-divisions, Valparai sub-divisions on Monday.

They cast their postal votes in a polling station at the Police Recruitment School (PRS) campus here. Three polling stations were functioning at Government Boys higher secondary school at Anaimalai, Old Police station at Karumathmaptti and Thavathiru Santhalinga Adigalar College at Perur. ECI officials said more than 90 percent of postal votes were recorded on Monday.
