College professor found dead in his house in Coimbatore

A 49-year-old college professor was found dead at his residence on Thursday. Police suspect that he might have been died of cardiac arrest.

The deceased was identified as Ramesh Rajaram. The body was found in a partially decomposed state at his house in Sundarapurm here. The man was home alone at the time of the incident, as his family was away in Perundurai where his wife was working as a teacher. When they visited the house on Thursday, he was found dead in the couch.

Police said Ramesh Rajaram was working as a professor with a private college in the city, while his wife Shanthi and two children were in Perundurai. "His wife had made a vain bid to contact him over phone for the past two days. Since he did not attend the calls, she came down to the city but only to find him dead,'' police said.

Since the house was locked from inside and there were no injury marks on the body of Rajaram, police said they don't suspect any foul play.

His body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. "He might have died of cardiac arrest. We are awaiting the post-mortem report,'' police said.
