Deadlines crossed yet project incomplete

The wish for a drive from Madukkarai to Walayar on a four lane road looks little impossible for now. The project for making this stretch into four lanes has crossed many deadlines but still stands incomplete. But there is an urgent need for the work to be completed soon with the onset of monsoon.

The main carriageway has been developed but till some works are pending but are stopped as the project requires more 40 crore rupees to be completed. National Highways Authorities of India are holding talks with banker and concessionaire to raise funds from resources so as the work is completed soon.

The Project cannot be supported financially by the central government as its a Build-operate-transfer (BOT) wherein a private entity receives a concession from the private or public sector to finance. Seeing the project not getting completed for so many days K. Kathirmathiyon, secretary of Coimbatore Consumer Cause, have requested the Central Government to intervene and look at various possibilities, including supporting the concessionaire to complete the project.
