Kurichi lake is located next to Aathuplam in Coimbatore. It has a length of 4.81 kms. This beautiful wetland has been polluted to major extent by various pollutants both natural and man made.
The Kurichi Padhukaapu Iyakkam is an organization to save this lake. The volunteers from this organization has taken a task of cleaning this lake for past 15 days. The organization has removed lot of wastes including the plants grown to a major extent. They have spent nearly 15 lakh rupees for this purpose.
On June 12th, 2016 this organization is going to undertake the task of plastic removal from this lake near Chinnakulam on Pollachi road from morning 6.00 AM to 9.00 AM. They will be supported by the volunteers , social activists and the Rapid Action Force. The organization has asked the citizens of Coimbatore to extend helping hand for this noble cause and do their share of social work for the protection of this lake.
