Madukkarai Maharaj tranquilized and relocated to Top Slip is dead

The lone tusker that was translocated from Madukkarai to top slip has died at 4:15 pm. The lone tusker was captured after an extensive combing operation involving four kumkis from various places like Sadivayal, Topslip and Mudumalai.

The Forest officials shot the tusker with a tranquilizer and used the kumkis to captivate the elephant and translocate it via a truck to Top Slip.

From here it was taken to the Kolikamuthi elephant camp at Varagaliar at Top slip where it was put inside a cage to start the training to make it into a Kumki.

But unfortunately we have received news that the elephant is now dead. The reason behind it is presumed to be the overdose of tranquillisers used. Forest officials are investigating the reasons behind it.
