Residents of Veerakalam protest against Corporation Authorities

The residents of Veerakeralam demonstrated a sit-in protest for irregular dispersement of drinking water to their locale.

'It's more than ten days since the Corporation has dispersed drinking water and even after repeated complaints and petitions to the concerned authorities, the water dispersing schedules are highly unpredictable, outraged a woman, resident of Veerakeralam.

The residents, especially women marched down to the street and staged a sit-in protest. The protestors felt gutted as their sit-in protest did not turn the attention of the officers, which provoked them to block a Government bus passing through their area. The bus block halted the traffic around the area which brought the corporation officials and the local police to the scene. The resented residents got into a melee with the officials who later dispersed after the officials promising swift action on their pleas. A transient traffic congestion was seen at Veerakalam.
