Self immolation attempt by trader at Collectorate


Kathiresan, an automobile spare parts dealer from Saradhambal Nagar, Karumathampatti tried to self-immolate at the Collectorate.

It is presumed that Kathiresan had borrowed Rs. 6 lakhs from Venkatachalamurthy, a teacher belonging to the same area. Even after repayment of the principal and the interest, Venkatachalamurthy has been denying the receipt of the money and posing threats to Kathiresan to pay more. The continuous harassments put undue pressure on Kathireasan, he decided to escalate the issue to the Police Station and also filed petitions at the Collectorate. Since his pleas were unheard, in a state of fury he planned to self-immolate at the Collectorate toady. The police seized his suicide attempt and took him to custody to the Race Course station for further investigation.
