Makkal Nala Kootani (People's Welfare Front) puts up a strong showing in Coimbatore

Makkal nala kootani (People's Welfare Front) today organised a meeting here in Coimbatore with its top leaders like Vaiko putting up a strong show.

In the meeting, leaders from the front asked people to vote an alternate third front to relieve themselves from the repeated exploitation of both Dravidian parties.

The 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls will be a repeat of 1967 elections, when Congress was ousted by the DMK. In the same manner Peoples Welfare Front (PWF) is all set to throw out both the AIADMK and DMK, which were ruling the State turn by turn for the last 48 years,” Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) President, Thirumavalavan, one of the constituent members of the four-party PWF, said today.

Addressing a huge public gathering here to highlight the Common Minimum Programme of PWF, Thirumavalavan said that the people were fed up with the Governments of both the Dravidian parties.

Stating that ego of two individuals – referring indirectly to DMK leader M. Karunanidhi and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa – was becoming a stumbling block in the development of Tamil Nadu, Thirumavalavan said that a project evolved by one party was shelved by another, which came to power alternately in five years, thus wasting huge sums of tax payers’ money.

In his address, PWF Coordinator and MDMK General Secretary Vaiko said that people had already started cursing both the parties. The continuous rule by DMK and AIADMK had taken Tamil Nadu backwards to a point of no return. The AIADMK Government had not taken any steps to solve the ongoing agitations by Government employees, power loom job working unit owners and also the GAIL project, which would seriously affect lakhs of farmers of Tamil Nadu, particularly the Western region.
