Efforts on to save Gurdip, says Sushma

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said the government was making efforts to save Gurdip Singh, who is likely to be executed by Indonesia on Thursday.

Singh, from Punjab, was accused of smuggling heroin and arrested in 2004.

“Gurdip Singh is facing death sentence in a drug case in Indonesia. We are making last minute efforts to save him from execution on July 28,” Ms. Swaraj, in a series of tweets, said.

The Indian is among several drug convicts likely to be executed by Indonesia.
