Abdul Kalam’s followers invite public to join party

V. Ponraj, the founder of Abdul Kalam Vision India Party, has said that the newly launched political party named after the former President of India, is inviting applications from the public to contest the elections as its candidates. He told the mediapersons that those who are interested in joining the party can download the application from the party website and register.

Dr. V. Ponraj was the scientific advisor to Kalam. At the press meet held today, Dr. Ponraj made public the party's plan to contest elections this year. From March 15 to 23 core members of the Abdul Kalam Vision India Party will be select candidates from the applications received.

He said that 60 percent of the candidates chosen will be youth, and 40 percent of them will be a mix of professionals and farmers from the various constituencies across the state. "We will handpick 10 members from each constituency. They will be given rigorous training from April 2 to 10 in Chennai. The training will be based on the book titled 'Manifesto for Change,' authored by Abdul Kalam and me," Dr. Ponraj said.

To a question on the party's prime focus, he said that the party will focus on bringing a green, blue, and white revolution in the state. He also added that policies will be implemented in the energy sector. To another question on being denied permission to use the image of Abdul Kalam, Dr. Ponraj replied, "Abdul Kalam's brother too has started a political party. For all practical purposes the Abdul Kalam Vision India Party is not allowed to make use of his (Abdul Kalam's) image."

Currently, Dr. Ponraj is travelling across Tamil Nadu to spread awareness about Abdul Kalam Vision India Party. Accompanying him are the students and youth who are the core members of the Abdul Kalam Vision India Party.
