Towards installing 100GW solar PV installations by 2020

PSG College of Technology has joined hands with PRO SUN Energy Pvt., Ltd., Coimbatore, and inaugurated the Centre for Excellence in solar PV systems to provide awareness on the importance of solar PV systems to industry, academicians, and researchers towards achieving the target of 100 GW of solar PV installations in India by the year 2020.

This is the 45th Centre for Excellence at the PSG College of Technology. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed by L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee PSG & Sons, and PRO SUN Energy Pvt., Ltd., Coimbatore.

The centre will focus broadly on education and research in the area of solar photovoltaic systems. This centre is also equipped with in-house research and training facility from cell to system level.

The centre offers various courses for professionals, graduates, researchers, and academicians in the solar PV area. These courses focus on the broad areas of solar photovoltaic systems, including storage for PV systems, new materials, novel PV structure, balance of systems, power electronics for PV systems, and grid integration of roof top PV systems.
