Arulmigu Kamakshi Amman Temple: 6.30 AM to 12.15 PM and 5.30 to 8.30 PM
The temple of Kamakshi is located on Big Bazaar street in the busy jewellery district and is largely patronized by the craftsman of this region. This ancient temple is about 1100 years old and has shrines for Ekambareshwarar, Varadarajaperumal,Bhairavar who is quite protective, six headed Subramanya on his beautiful and stylish peacock with his consorts Valli and Devayani, Navagrahams and Nataraja.
One is but reminded of the ancient Pallava capital Kanchipuram while praying here because the deities and their names are representative of the deities present there. The temple is completely made up of granite stones and really looks great.
The Navarathri Kolu, Adi velli prayers by the Coimbatore Arya Vysya Nagai Vyaparigal Peravai, Amavasya and Pournami Poojas, Pradosham and the grand Viswakarma Jayanthi celebrations are legendary in this temple. The fantastic calm that will enthrall the devotee can be experienced in this temple.
The people consider the grace of Kamakshi to be paramount when it comes to the progress of the local community in this area. It is appropriate to recite the prayer " Kanchadhalaya thakshi Kamakshi" in this historic temple and thereby gain the Divine grace of the Supreme Mother Kamakshi.
