Conducting fire drills, amplifying the do and don’ts when around fire, water and other susceptible surroundings, following traffic rules, creating mind alerting stories on good touch and bad touch and much more is followed in schools more as a part of syllabus than general knowledge information.
“Children do what parents do, as much as we explain the safety measures, it is very important that the back home the parents follow it too. The government has imposed certain laws on safety, and it is for their own good, but instead of following we find ways of escaping, till we realise it has done its harm.
We have repeatedly asked parents to wear a helmet and put one for the child too, our requests went completely unheard, till we made it a rule. No child will be allowed in school if the parents are dropping the child on a two wheeler. To ensure this we have a teacher standing right at the gate to foster this habit in both the parent and child.
As much as education is important to child, his safety is important too, we love our children and don’t want them to be harmed because we stayed ignorant. The Lil Paalikoodam School has made it mandatory for parents and the child to wear a helmet when dropping and picking up the child for school. Such steps lead to becoming a habit that is followed not just for school but elsewhere too.
