Female migrant worker injured in bear attack in Valparai

Two bears, roaming around with a cub in the Injiparai estate area near Valparai, attacked a woman haiing from North India who had gone to fetch water.


Coimbatore: The movement of wild animals in the estate areas around Valparai in Coimbatore district has been on the rise for the past few months.

In this situation, two bears, who had left the forest area in the first division of Injiparai Estate near Valparai, roamed around in the residential area with the cub.

A large number of north Indian labourers are working in the Injiparai estate area. Sabita, a native of Jharkhand, had gone out of her house around 6 am to fetch water.



The two bears, which were roaming around there, came out of the tea garden area and attacked Sabita. She suffered serious injuries on both his hands.

Hearing the noise, people nearby rushed him to Valparai hospital for treatment. In the meantime, he was given first aid treatment in Valparai and later taken to pollachi government hospital for treatment.

The incident of a bear attack has created a lot of fear among the public at a time when the movement of wild animals in Valparai area is on the rise.

In this situation, the public has requested the forest department to take steps to prevent wild animals from entering the residential areas.
