Coimbatore car blast: NIA officials inspect the spot and enquire people of the area

While the case has been transferred to the NIA, NIA officials have started an investigation from today. NIA officials have launched an investigation in the Kottai Easwaran temple area where the incident took place.



Coimbatore: A car on the road exploded near Kottai Easwaran Temple near Ukkadam Kottaimedu in Coimbatore on October 23. Jamesha Mubin, a resident of the same locality, was charred to death on the spot.

In this case, top officials of the Tamil Nadu police conducted a direct inquiry. In this, various startling information was discovered. During a search at the house of the deceased Jamesha Mubin, 109 important items, including various raw materials for making bombs, were found there.

Also, six persons have been arrested under the UAPA in connection with the case. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also recommended that the investigation in the case be transferred to the NIA as it is believed to have links with terrorist organisations. So far, 52 CCTV footages have been examined in the case. More than 60 people have been questioned. The city police handed over the interrogation files to the NIA.

Following this, the NIA officials registered a case on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs and launched an investigation.



For the first time, nia officials have personally inspected the Kottai Easwaran temple where the incident took place and started an investigation.



Prior to that, the city police had launched a surveillance operation through bomb experts across the area.



In this case, around four NIA officers started an inspection near Kottai Easwaran temple. The officials, who have gone to inspect the spot, are also interrogating the locals. Earlier, an office for NIA officers has been set up in the premises of Coimbatore Police Training School.



It is to be noted that some inspectors and sub-inspectors of the City Special Cell police, which investigated the case, will accompany the NIA officials for questioning.
