Christians offer special prayers at cemeteries to pay homage to departed loved ones on All Souls Day in Coimbatore

All Souls Day is observed on November 2 among Christians who offer special prayers in memory of their departed loved ones and pay homage to them by cleaning and decorating the tombstones at cemeteries.


Coimbatore: All Souls' Day, also known as the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed and the Day of the Dead, is a day of prayer and remembrance for the faithful departed, which is observed by Roman Catholics and other Christian denominations annually on November 2.



A large number of Christians gathered at various cemeteries across Coimbatore city and renovated, painted and decorated the tombs of their departed loved ones. They also lit candles and offered prayers in honour of their loved ones, along with their families.
