Coimbatore car cylinder blast case: NIA officials arrest 3 more men

Based on documents seized in a raid conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials, documents were seized based on which three more persons were arrested. The men were identified as Umar Farooq from Coonoor, Taufiq and Feroz Khan from Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: On October 23, just ahead of Diwali, a car cylinder exploded in front of the Kottai Easwaran Temple in the Ukkadam area of Coimbatore, sending shock waves across Coimbatore district and Tamil Nadu.

Following the transfer of the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and in coordination with the Coimbatore City Police, searches were conducted at the homes of those who were in contact with Jameesha Mubin who was involved in the car cylinder blast scare, and were living in various parts of Coimbatore city. Now, the NIA has arrested three more persons.

Based on the documents seized, the NIA officials arrested three persons— Umar Farooq (39) from Coonoor, Taufiq (25) from Coimbatore and Feroz Khan (28) from Coimbatore.

In the Coimbatore car blast case, Mohammed Talka, Mohammed Azharuddin from Ukkadam, and Mohammed Riyaz, Firoz Ismail, Mohammad Nawaz Ismail and Afsar who are all residents of G M Nagar in Coimbatore have been already arrested.
