Police seize Rs.4.86 lakh and arrest 32 for mega gambling and hoarding of liquor bottles at Saravanampatti in Coimbatore

In two separate incidents, 31 persons were arrested for indulging in gambling to the tune of Rs. 4.86 lakh in places under Saravanampatti police station limits. A man was also arrested for storing 138 liquor bottles at a TASMAC outlet.



Coimbatore: Based on a tip-off that mega gambling was being done at a house in the Saravanampatti area of Coimbatore, police rushed to the spot and conducted a search. They nabbed a gang that was involved in gambling with money at the house.

Though the gang tried to flee when the police arrived in the house, they were rounded up by the police and taken to the police station for questioning. During investigation, it was revealed that they were involved in gambling with Rs 4.86 lakh. Following this, the police registered a case and arrested 31 people involved in the gambling and seized the money.

In another similar incident, Saravanampatti Sub-Inspector Palanisamy received information that liquor bottles were being stored and sold in the Ganapathi area. Following this, the Sub-Inspector reached the spot and conducted a search.

He found liquor bottles being hoarded and sold at a TASMAC outlet in the area. Police nabbed Ganesan (30), a native of Tirunelveli, who was involved in the sale of liquor and seized 138 bottles of liquor. A case was registered against Ganesan and produced him in Court and sent him to jail.
