Three of the five-member gang, who were selling ganja near a private college in Coimbatore, were rounded up by the police. 1.250 kg of ganja was also seized. Police are on the lookout for two persons from Sundarapuram who have escaped from the scene.
Coimbatore: The city police are keeping a close watch on the sale of ganja and gutkha across Coimbatore city. Also, a special drive has been launched to curb the sale of narcotic substances, including ganja.
Kuniyamuthur police received information that ganja was being sold illegally near a private college Coimbatore. Following this, a police team led by sub-inspector Murugan patrolled the area looking for ganja peddlers.
Five youth, who were standing suspiciously near a private college in Coimbatore were rounded up and they were found to be in possession of ganja for sale. On seeing the police arriving, the five tried to escape. However the police apprehended three, while the other two gave a slip to the police.
The police have seized 1.250 kg of ganja and a mobile phone from them and identified the peddlers as Raghu Krishnan (22), Ajith Kumar (25) of Madukkarai and Krishna Prasad (21) of Kuniyamuthur.
The Police are on the look out for Gautham and Hariharan, both residents of Sundarapuram, who had escaped from the scene.
