Coimbatore: For the past few weeks, a herd of wild elephants has been roaming around in the agricultural fields in Narasipuram area near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore district.
Wild elephants roaming and damaging crops on cultivatable agricultural lands have become a regular phenomenon affecting the prospects of the farmers.
Due to this, the forest department officials are patrolling the area at night time and chase away the elephants roaming in the agricultural fields into the deep forests.
Panic-stricken farmers in the area are clueless as how to stop this marauding elephants, which feast on standing crops.

Meanwhile, the farmers have demanded that the forest department should take immediate steps to prevent elephants from entering the agricultural fields and neighbourhoods.
