During the two-day training course and seminar on the ongoing 24X7 water supply project activities under the AMRUT Project in Coimbatore Corporation, more than 80 project engineers participated and gave detailed presentations.
Coimbatore: A two-day training course and seminar on the 24x7 drinking water supply project activities under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Project was held on Wednesday at the Vijay Elanza Hotel Auditorium on Peelamedu-Avinashi Road under the Eastern Zone of Coimbatore Corporation.
Coimbatore Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar presided over the function along with the Deputy Mayor Vetriselvan and East Zone President Lakshmy Ilanchelvi Karthik.
Corporation Deputy Commissioner Dr. M Sharmila inaugurated the seminar.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr M Sharmila said, "To provide 24x7 access to clean drinking water to the public in Coimbatore Corporation, the scheme is being implemented with the objective of providing drinking water round the clock, storing drinking water and providing clean drinking water. It is proposed to implement a 24-hour water supply scheme under the AMRUT scheme in 15 Corporations, 12 Municipalities and 1 Town Panchayat in Tamil Nadu.
More than 80 engineers from Coimbatore Corporation and other Corporations, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, Municipality, Town Panchayat Director, Municipal Administration and Rural Development Department participated in the seminar. They will be briefed in detail about the ongoing works of Siruvani, Vadavalli, Kavundampalayam Combined Water Supply Scheme, Pillur 1, 2 project and Pillur III projects, which are the current sources of water supply to Coimbatore Corporation.
Moreover, the engineers are visiting Jeram Nagar area round the clock and inspecting the drinking water project. The functioning of the 24-hour water supply scheme, the construction of the water pipeline and the difficulties involved in it will also be explained. Moreover, engineers are inspecting the site where the work is currently underway. The project has been well implemented in the Puri Municipal Corporation in India and is currently in use. At present, this scheme is being implemented in Coimbatore Corporation.
Subsequently, the AMRUT Project is being implemented in Pune region as well. Engineers must take advantage of this 2-day training course and seminar," she further added.
The seminar was attended by Municipal Engineer Elangovan, Executive Engineer Murugesan, TUFIDCO, State Mission Management Ltd., Team Leader Raja and more than 80 engineers on behalf of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, Corporation, Municipality, Town Panchayat and Rural Development Departments and Suez Corporation.
