NIA officials take five of the 'car bomb’ accused to Ukkadam Anbu Nagar area for further interrogation

While NIA officials were given permission to take into police custody the five people involved in the Coimbatore car blast case and interrogate them, the five were brought to Ukkadam Anbu Nagar for further probe into the case.



Coimbatore: On October 23, a car bomb exploded in front of Kottai Easwaran temple near Ukkadam in Coimbatore and the terror suspect has been identified as Jamesha Mubeen, a resident of Ukkadam, who planned the blast.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested six persons, including Mohammad Talga, Mohammad Azharuddin, Mohammad Riyaz, Feroz Ismail, Mohammad Nawaz Ismail and Afsar Khan in connection with the case.

The case, which was being investigated by the Tamil Nadu police, was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the recommendation of Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Following this, the NIA, officials camped in Coimbatore and conducted an investigation. The NIA has conducted searches at more than 40 locations across Tamil Nadu in connection with the car blast. The authorities also arrested three others, including Umar Farooq and Feroz Khan, in connection with the case.

While the nine arrested have been lodged in Puzhal prison, the NIA has taken into custody five persons – Feroz Khan, Umar Farooq, Mohammad Azharuddin, Afsar Khan and Feroz – for questioning. The special court granted permission for NIA custody.

The NIA officials, who brought the accused to the Coimbatore Police Training Ground yesterday, interrogated them took them to the GM Nagar area of Ukkadam for further questioning.



For the second day today, five persons were taken to Anbu Nagar and Pullukadu areas and interrogated.



The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been given permission to take the accused into custody from December 21 to 29 for further interrogation in the case.
