Omni bus travelling from Kerala to Bengaluru plunged into a gorge near Coimbatore; 32 passengers injured

As many as 32 passengers were injured when an omni bus heading towards Bengaluru fell off the road near Neelambur in Coimbatore and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.



Coimbatore: An omni bus carrying passengers from Cochin in Kerala was on its way to Bengaluru in Karnataka via Coimbatore. The bus was carrying 37 passengers and 40 people, including the driver, cleaner and helper.

The omni bus was on its way to Venkatapuram section near Neelambur on the Coimbatore bypass road when the driver allegedly tried to stop the bus on the roadside.

Unfortunately, the omni bus fell into the small pit on the roadside and met with an accident. At least 32 people, including passengers and the driver, were injured in the incident.

At least 14 people were seriously injured in the incident and are being treated at a hospital. Also, those with minor injuries were treated for first aid in the outpatient department of the hospital and returned home.

The Sulur police visited the accident site and registered a case and are investigating the matter.
