Coimbatore Police Launch High-Tech Speed Radar Monitoring; Instant E-Challans for Crossing 40 kmph Limit

To curb rising road accidents in Coimbatore city, police have intensified surveillance using advanced speed monitoring devices at Chinniyampalayam on Avinashi Road. Vehicles exceeding the 40 kmph speed limit will receive instant online fines through e-challans sent directly to vehicle owners.

Coimbatore: In a bid to curb the increasing number of road accidents in Coimbatore city, the traffic police have launched intensive surveillance operations using advanced speed monitoring devices at Chinniyampalayam on Avinashi Road and other key locations across the city.

Vehicles within Coimbatore city limits are permitted to travel at a maximum speed of 40 kilometres per hour. To identify vehicles violating this speed restriction, traffic police have deployed sophisticated speed radar cameras at critical junctions including Chinniyampalayam and other major intersections throughout the city.

The speed monitoring devices accurately capture video footage and photographs of speeding vehicles, recording their registration numbers and the exact speed at which they were travelling. Subsequently, e-challans are sent directly to the mobile phones of vehicle owners through the online system, penalizing them for overspeeding violations.

"Are you going that fast... will you continue to do so?" – in this cautionary tone, traffic police officials have stated that this crackdown is aimed specifically at preventing accidents and fatalities caused by high-speed driving.

It has been announced that these online speed monitoring checks will be intensified and extended to other major roads in the city including Trichy Road, Mettupalayam Road, and Sakthi Road. Motorists are strongly advised to adhere to speed limits and travel safely to avoid penalties and ensure road safety for all.
