PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss said that the Governor is a custodian of the Constitution and should not indulge in any other kind of politics. The governor and the government should show reciprocity and mutual good will.
Coimbatore : Inaugurating a seminar on "Noyyal Aatrai Meetu Eduppom" (Let’s retrieve Noyyal river) on behalf of The “Pasumai Thaayagam” in the city PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss said Noyyal river has a hoary past and history and a lifeline for the farmers of the region over the ages.
Briefing the press on the occasion Anbumani Ramadoss said “during the reign of the kings, such as the Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas they came up with various schemes to protect Noyyal and created 32 dams, ponds and lakes, and also formulated a plan for the irrigational development in the area”.
“We are in a similar situation to retrieve the Noyyal from environmental destruction with some urgency” he said.
“About 4.5 lakh acres of land were irrigated by the Noyyal river. Over the past 40 years, the river has been severely affected by encroachments such as solid waste, chemical waste, dyeing waste, sewage, sand mining, brick kiln and other such factors”.
“This river must be saved from going to ruins. The PMK and the Pasumai Thaayagam are working together in this effort. I have come here in the hope that I will unite the people and bring back Noyyal." Anbumani noted
“The Noyyal river gets mostly polluted in the Tirupur stretch, and encroachments should be removed without any political influcence” he said.
“Noyyal has a 2500-year-old history. There is a great connection between Noyyal and the Cholas. Irregularities have happened in the renovation works for the river in the past 5 to10 years” Anbumani blamed.
While talking about the Government – Governor face off, Anbumani said that the Governor and the ruling party should work together for the development of Tamil Nadu. The Governor should not do politics. The Governor is in charge of the Constitution and he should not indulge in any other kind of politics.
"It is not necessary to debate on subjects such as Tamizhagam or Tamil Nadu, Dravidian model etc".he said
Anbumani also criticized the governor for not signing the bill to ban online gambling and said the Pongal gift of Rs,1,000 should have been remitted in the bank accounts of beneficiaries .
“Our aim is to form a coalition government led by PMK in 2026. The Government of Kerala is actively engaged in the digital survey and the Tamil Nadu government should set up a ministerial committee and talk to the Chief Minister of Kerala about the issue” Anbumani Ramadoss said.
