The complaint was filed at the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's office seeking action against a person who was spreading defamatory messages against the Medicine Dealers' Association office-bearers in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The office-bearers of the Coimbatore District Medicine Dealers' Association have lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's office.
The petition, filed on behalf of the Association's Secretary Annam Thirunavukkarasu, stated that a person Suresh has been constantly posting defamatory posts on social media about the Association and the office-bearers of the Association.
Despite repeated instructions in person and through the police, Suresh has reportedly refused to listen. Therefore, in the petition, the Medicine Dealers' Association has urged the Government to take appropriate action against the person who is spreading the slander and also to ensure the safety of the office bearers.
Speaking to reporters later, the Coimbatore District Medicine Dealers' Association Treasurer Ramachandran said, "Elections were held a year ago after passing through the Union. Our team won it. Suresh, who contested against me for the post of Treasurer, has been spreading defamatory messages against the Association and the office-bearers of the Association because he lost the election. This has caused us stress.
We have lodged a complaint with the City Police Commissioner's office seeking appropriate action in this regard. The Coimbatore Medicine Dealers' Association is now working closely with the Health Department to create awareness among the public. Suresh is also acting in a way that prevents our work. The police should take swift action against him," he further added.
