Foreign Job racket: Man arrested and wife absconding for duping job seekers to the tune of Rs. 19 lakh

A case has been registered against a couple in Coimbatore under four sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for duping job seekers to the tune of Rs. 19 lakh. While the husband has been arrested in the case, the police are on the lookout for the absconding wife.


Coimbatore: Chandramohan (33), a resident of A.G. Pudur Road in Irugur, and he has completed his M.Sc. Computer Networking from a University in England. At present, he is staying in Coimbatore and working from home.



Chandramohan in his bid to find a job abroad, approached a private company offering immigration Services, which operates in R.S. Puram Arun and his wife Hemalatha, the owners of the company, have told Chandramohan that they have a job in Poland and it would cost up to Rs. 4 lakh to secure the job.

They have also told Chandramohan that they will have to pay Rs 1 lakh as advance and the remaining amount will have to be paid after the orders are received.

Believing this, Chandramohan handed over Rs 1 lakh in two instalments to Arun and Hemalatha. When they were asked about the work order, they evaded by giving false replies.

Peeved at the delay Chandramohan had personally visited the company in December last year and asked for the money to be returned. However, he was threatened and sent out.

Later, when found out that he had been taken for the ride by the duo.

The lost list of job seekers who have been duped by the couple included. Amuthapriyan from Kumbakonam for Rs. 1 lakh, Vijayakumar of Puzhuthivakkam in Chennai for Rs 4.54 lakh and Saravanan of Ponneri in Thiruvallur for Rs. 4.54 lakh.

Mohammed Jawahar Ali from Chidambaram for Rs. 4.50 lakh, Muthukumar from Salem district for Rs. 1 lakh and others.

On the basis of a complaint lodged in this regard, the city Crime branch police have registered a case against Arun and Hemalatha under four sections and took up investiations.
