Elephants damage noon meal centre, temple near Valparai

Four elephants entered a school in Upasi Estate area near Valparai and damaged the noon meal hall. The wall of a nearby temple was also broken.


Coimbatore: The movement of wild elephants in the estate areas around Valparai in Coimbatore district has been on the rise for the past few months.

The people of the area are in fear as wild elephants entering the residential areas, demolishing houses, grocery shops, noon meal centres, etc., and eating food items inside the house.

In this case, 4 wild elephants entered the school premises in Upasi Estate area near Valparai.



They broke the wall of the noon meal centre in the school and damaged the goods.



The wild elephants also damaged the windows and doors and entered the residential area from there and damaged the wall of the Mariamman temple.



The incident created a stir and the forest officials rushed to the spot on receiving information and chased the elephants into the forest.

In this situation, the public, who are in fear due to the increasing movement of wild elephants, tahey have requested the forest department to take steps to prevent wild elephants from entering the residential areas.
