Coimbatore: In what is certain celestial spectacle , which occurs once in 50,000 years, a rare green comet named C/2022 E3 (ZTF) by NASA is set to come closest to Earth on February 1 and 2.

It was named C/2022 E3 (ZTF) by the US space agency NASA.

The universe consists of solar systems and constellations. Countries of the world are engaged in various research related to the universe.

In March last year, scientists discovered this rare type of green comet.

This rare species of green comet is set to come close to Earth on February 1 and 2 after 50,000 years. Scientists have said that it can be observed through telescopes during the early hours of the day on February 1 and 2.

The comet will be greenish in color and could be seen using binoculars or a telescope.

While the brightness of comets is notoriously unpredictable, you could catch a glimpse of this greenish comet with the naked eye.

But, you need to be in a very dark spot, and have good eyesight and ensure the moon’s light isn’t too bright.

Look for it near the bright star Polaris, also known as the North Star.

The comet should be visible through binoculars in the morning sky for sky-watchers in the Northern Hemisphere during most of January and those in the Southern Hemisphere in early February, NASA adds.

According to scientists, the green comet may have approached Earth about 50,000 years ago, when stone age humans had lived.

Since this rare type of green comet travels only in an huge orbit outside the solar system, its journey seems to be very long.

NASA scientists have also said that this may be the last time the comet will come close to Earth, as the green comet will go back into space at a much greater distance after successfully orbiting the Sun.
