Coimbatore: Ganja selling gang leader arrested; police on the look out for 10 of his associates

The police have arrested Chandrababu, a native of Karamadai, who was smuggling ganja from Andhra Pradesh and selling it to small traders. They are on the lookout for 10 of his associates.


Coimbatore: The Special Task Force (STF) police have received a tip-off that ganja is being sold in the Roots flyover area next to Sanganur junction in Coimbatore district. Based on this, a police team led by Rathinapuri police inspector Ramesh Khanna was keeping a close watch on the area.

A suspect was then caught and interrogated. They have also checked his two-wheeler and belongings. During the raid, it was found that he had ganja packets.

Following this, the police arrested him and called him to the police station for further investigation. During investigation, it was revealed that the arrested person was Chandrababu, a native of Karamadai, who had taken a room in Vellalur area and was staying there.

He was illegally smuggling ganja from Andhra Pradesh and selling it to small traders in Coimbatore. Investigations revealed that he was selling ganja to school, college students and construction workers.

During the raid, the Special Task Force (STF) police seized 8 kg of 200 gram ganja packets, a two-wheeler used for the sale of ganja and Rs 42,400 in cash.

The police are also on the lookout for a total of 10 people, including his associates, Jaleel, Kishore, Pandi, Riyaz Khan, Murugan, Siva, Murugesan, Pandi, Manickam and a person from Erode who are involved in the sale of ganja by purchasing ganja from Chandrababu.

Chandrababu, who was arrested, has cases of murder and robbery pending against him in various police stations, including Thudiyalur.

Coimbatore City and District Police have warned that strict action will be taken against those indulging in such illegal activities.
