Thousands of litres of water is being wasted due to a sudden breach in the pipeline of the Poolankinar combined water supply scheme near Udumalpet in Tirupur district.
Tirupur: Drinking water is being supplied daily from Thirumoorthy Dam near Udumalpet in Tirupur district to 33 wards of Udumalpet Municipality and hundreds of villages in and around Udumalpet, Madathukulam, Gudimangalam and surrounding areas through the Combined Water Supply Scheme.
Udumalai Municipality 2nd Combined Water Supply Scheme By setting up a pumping station at a specified distance from the dam and purifying the drinking water, water is being supplied to Madathukulam, Gudimangalam and Udumalai Union areas through giant pipelines for the new combined water supply scheme at Poolankinar, Kanakampalayam, Madathukulam, Gudimangalam.
In this situation, there was a sudden breach in a giant drinking water pipeline going for the Poolankinar combined water supply project. Due to this, thousands of litres of drinking water is being released from the Poolankinar area and is being wasted on the roads. The people of the area have demanded that the concerned Water Supply and Drainage Board officials should fix the breach in the water pipeline on a war footing basis.
